On Thursday 11th March, Surfmarketing held an eMarketing workshop for Eastbourne District Chamber of Commerce (EDCC) and Business Link. This was planned and presented by Kevin Doherty on behalf of EDCC and Business Link. The evening was a big success with lots of attendees, an energetic atmosphere and a great audience. The event started at 6pm, lasting 3 hours, but for those of you that want to know more, missed out this time or are simply just interested, you're in the right place.
The aim of the eMarketing event was to discover what method marketing professionals were using right now for their campaigns and what information they are communicating. It then goes to what they should be doing, what methods they should be using and what kind of information they should be communicating with.
The final result we were aiming to achieve was to re-educate marketing professionals for today’s need for good relationships between target audience or customers and the company or department themselves and the creation of “Brand Evangelists”. The basic message is that nobody wants to hear people that are trying to sell anymore, that they have their own interests and you need to find a way to appeal to them, which can be achieved through sharing quality, interesting content that is relevant to you and your company.
Although it's a difficult concept for some professional marketers to grasp, the world of eMarketing has quickly changed, due to the rapid growth of Social Media, and professionals need re-educating in order to remain competitive and useful. The concept of “Brand Evangelists” was also visited.
A brand evangelist is a very influential person that will preach about a certain brand for a certain type of product, and because they are so influential, many people will listen and do go out and buy from said company. Basically it's like hiring someone to market your brand and improve audience/public relationships, without having to pay them any wages.
We understand, from the feedback given to us from EDCC that this was one of the most popular and most attended workshops that has been held on their behalf so far. We hope that every last one of the attendees got what they were looking for, and more. It will be very interesting to read the feedback forms that all of you who came filled out. Thank you to everyone who attended, we are very grateful for your time, and please remember to check back for any of our other educational/networking events.
